MORGENTHALER CONTINUES TO DISTANCE HERSELF FROM GOV. BLAGOJEVICH
Made Up New Job Title to Avoid Ties to Scandal-Plagued Gov. Blagojevich
WHEATON, IL –Jill Morgenthaler, Congressional candidate for her neighboring 6th District, has spent the last year campaigning as if she never knew her boss, Governor Rod Blagojevich. So much so she has fabricated a new job title to avoid mentioning Blagojevich’s name.
On dozens of occasions, Morgenthaler has described her role in the embattled Blagojevich Administration as “Illinois’ Homeland Security Advisor” or “Director of Homeland Security,” when in fact her title was Deputy Chief of Staff for Public Safety. Her claim has been misreported widely in Chicagoland media coverage.

Also, Morgenthaler recently claimed on ABC 7 she only met the Governor four or five times in her 2 years of service under Blagojevich.
“As Governor Blagojevich’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Public Safety, I find it hard to believe that Morgenthaler could effectively serve and protect our state without regular meetings with the Governor,” said Roskam spokesman Matt Vriesema. “Her blatant attempts to mislead voters and hide her association with Governor Blagojevich damage the credibility of her candidacy in an election where voters are yearning for authenticity.”
