Congressman Roskam introduced with Reps. Biggert and Kirk the Creating Opportunities to Motivate Mass-transit Utilization To Encourage Ridership (COMMUTER) Act which offers tax incentives for companies to boost employee participation in public transportation.

Bringing federal resources home and providing incentives to commuters, Congressman Roskam has been diligent in offering more transportation operations to reduce congestion and save families on their gas budget.

Promoting Alternative Transportation Options
Congressman Roskam has secured federal funding for the STAR Rail Line, a revolutionary transportation system that will provide more than 1 million people an alternative to driving.
- The STAR Line will connect more than 100 communities from O'Hare Airport to Joliet
To ensure the continued progress of the STAR Line, Congressman Roskam introduced legislation to block Canadian National's proposed purchase of the EJ&E rail line.
Providing a Safe and Reliable System
Congressman Roskam worked to pass in the bipartisan Federal Railroad Safety Improvement Act to enhance the safety of rail-grade-crossings, increase penalties for safety violations, and provide more rail safety inspectors.
Also, Roskam worked with his colleagues in the House to pass the National Highway Bridge Reconstruction and Inspection Act to require the Secretary of Transportation to annually review the status of bridge safety and inspection standards.
