Parallels is heavy on Mac! How to set up for faster speed

Schedule Windows updates

Once the Windows update starts, Windows becomes heavy all at once.

Disabling Windows Update is too risky from a security perspective.

henceThe Parallels's [Maintenance] feature can be used to set Windows updates to run during times when Windows is not in use.

Step 1: Launch the Parallels Desktop application

Click the Parallels icon on the Mac menu bar and select "Control Center.

The Parallels Desktop Control Center appears.

Step 2: Click on the [gear] icon

Installed virtual machines are shown here.

Once launched, the Control Center will appear. Click the Gear icon on the virtual machine.

Step 3: Click on "Maintenance

[Click on "Options" and select "Maintenance.

Configure Parallels's [Maintenance] function to run Windows updates at times when Windows is not in use.

Use fixed-size disk images

Parallels Desktop disk images are variable in size by default; it is convenient for them to change size based on Windows disk usage.

However, fixed size performs better than variable size, so use fixed size.

Step 1: Launch the Parallels Desktop application

Click the Parallels icon on the Mac menu bar and select "Control Center.

The Parallels Desktop Control Center appears.

Step 2: Click on the [gear] icon

Once launched, the Control Center will appear. Click the Gear icon on the virtual machine.

Step 3: Click on "Hardware

Click on "Hardware" at the top of the settings window.

Step 4: Click "Edit

[Click "Hard Disk 1" and then click "Edit.

Step 5:Uncheck [Variable Capacity Disk] and click [Apply].

[Uncheck "Variable Capacity Disk" and click "Apply.

Minimal sharing between Mac and Windows.

Parallels Desktop has many useful features for sharing files, clipboards, etc. between Windows and Mac.

Parallels Desktop may run slowly when set to [All Disks]. Therefore, it is recommended to set it to [Home Folder Only].

Step 1: Launch the Parallels Desktop application
